At this online webinar with globally acclaimed speaker Dr Christopher Willard, we delve into positive psychology, anthropology, neuroscience, emotional intelligence and mindfulness as we explore tools that have boosted human resilience in the face of adversity for generations – uncovering ways in which our clients can harness the brain’s processes to reassess and reset their defensive / dysfunctional coping strategies to a resilience based toolset.
Modern neuroscience has shown how we can use the brain’s innate neuroplasticity to modify coping behaviours, even when these appear to be seemingly ‘stuck’ or intractable. At this intellectually stimulating and therapeutically relevant webinar, we will look at the tools and techniques that work best when we want our clients to:
- Counter the impact that stress/ trauma has had on their emotional and mental wellbeing
- Strengthen their emotional responses to cope with anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, guilt and / or shame relying on the biopsychosocial model of healing
- Create a sense of deep self-compassion and empathy that helps them heal from life’s setbacks
- Help our clients learn multiple mindfulness and self-compassion practices for mind, body, and relationships
- Apply at least four mindfulness and related techniques in session with our clients
- Help our clients strengthen their network of resonant relationships that inspire a positive growth mindset and foster change
- Shift their perspectives through mindful awareness
Chris helps us identify therapeutic techniques that can be applied across modalities. Specifically, we look at:
- The use of somatic tools to help clients mitigate the impact of stress and trauma on their nervous system, helping them to create an inner sense of safety and equilibrium and strengthen their natural range of resilience
- Helping clients manage turbulent emotions by learning to harness the power of positive emotions and an optimistic mindset that works as an antidote to the brain’s negativity bias and shift brain functioning from maladaptive and prolonged survival responses to a towards the Safe/Rest and Digest/Engagement stage
- Cultivating self-awareness and self-love that help clients heal from toxic shame, calm the inner critic, and restore their inner well-being
- Teaching the interpersonal skills that help clients to trust other people as refuges and resources in difficult times
- Adapting practices of mindfulness to help clients identify dysfunctional patterns of coping and move towards a resilience-based system of coping
